Job summary

Arnold Clark is hiring an HGV Technician to inspect and repair HGVs in line with DVSA requirements. A Category C+E licence and HGV Level 3 qualification are essential, with a focus on accuracy and independence.

You will diagnose faults, fit equipment, and handle paperwork while working in a busy team. The role includes overtime, performance bonuses, and opportunities for salary reviews and EV accreditation training.

Qualifications

• HGV Level 3 automotive qualification is required.
• Category C + E driving licence is required.
• Ability to perform repairs per DVSA and Group Operators Licence.
• Capable of working with minimal supervision and communicating effectively.

Responsibilities

• Carry out periodic safety inspections of HGVs to DVSA standards.
• Fault diagnosis on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Attend broken down or accident-damaged vehicles and perform repairs as required.
• Fit and remove a range of equipment and livery as needed.
• Complete paperwork accurately and update internal systems.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.

Hours

Full time: Monday – Friday 8am – 5.30pm

About The Role

As a HGV Technician, you will carry out inspections and repairs in accordance with DVSA requirements, working independently and as part of a busy team. You must hold an appropriate Category C + E driving licence and have high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out periodic safety inspections of all HGVs to DVSA standards
• Fault diagnosis on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Attending broken down or accident-damaged vehicles, repairing as required
• Fitting and removing a large range of ancillary equipment, accessories and livery
• Completing the appropriate paperwork accurately
• Updating internal computer systems
• Ensuring all relevant legislation and health and safety procedures are adhered to
• Maintaining work areas in a safe and clean condition
• Carrying out other duties as instructed by supervisory staff

Essential Skills

• Previous experience and an HGV Level 3 automotive qualification
• You must hold a Category C + E driving licence
• Ability to carry out repairs in accordance with DVSA and the Group Operators licence
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Strong communication skills and ability to be a team player
• High standards and a commitment to accuracy
