Job summary

Arnold Clark Group in Motherwell is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to perform inspections and repairs to DVSA standards. A Category C+E licence and HGV Level 3 qualification are required, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

We offer a salary of £40,000–£50,000 DOE plus benefits, overtime at time and a half, 33 days’ annual leave, flexible hours and EV-accredited training.

Qualifications

• Hold an HGV Level 3 automotive qualification.
• Hold a Category C+E driving licence.
• Able to perform repairs in line with DVSA standards and group licensing.
• Able to work with minimal supervision and in a busy team.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Demonstrate high accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Carry out periodic safety inspections of all HGVs to DVSA standards.
• Fault diagnosis on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Attend broken down or accident-damaged vehicles and repair as required.
• Fit and remove a wide range of equipment, accessories and livery.
• Complete paperwork accurately and update internal systems.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed and work areas are clean.
• Carry out other duties as instructed by supervisory staff.

Hours

Full time: Monday – Friday 8am – 5.30pm

About the role

As a HGV Technician, you will carry out inspections and repairs in accordance with DVSA requirements, working independently and as part of a busy team. You must hold an appropriate Category C + E driving licence and have high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out periodic safety inspections of all HGVs to DVSA standards
• Fault diagnosis on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Attending broken down or accident-damaged vehicles, repairing as required
• Fitting and removing a large range of ancillary equipment, accessories and livery
• Completing the appropriate paperwork accurately
• Updating internal computer systems
• Ensuring all relevant legislation and health and safety procedures are adhered to
• Maintaining work areas in a safe and clean condition
• Carrying out other duties as instructed by supervisory staff

Essential skills

• Previous experience and an HGV Level 3 automotive qualification
• You must hold a Category C + E driving licence
• Ability to carry out repairs in accordance with DVSA and the Group Operators licence
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Strong communication skills and ability to be a team player
• High standards and a commitment to accuracy
