We re looking for a skilled and experienced HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Fitter to join a busy, well-established main dealer workshop in Manchester. Working on a 4-on-4-off shift, you ll enjoy excellent pay, a modern working environment, and genuine opportunities for training and progression within a respected commercial vehicle group.

Key Responsibilities of an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician / HGV Fitter

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and safety inspections on HGVs and trailers
  • Perform diagnostics and mechanical repairs on a range of commercial vehicles
  • Conduct brake, suspension, axle, and structural repairs (including welding)
  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs, inspections, and compliance documents
  • Ensure work meets DVSA and manufacturer standards
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a safe and productive workshop

Requirements for the HGV Mechanic Role / HGV Technician / HGV Fitter

  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician
  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
  • Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding ability
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 licence preferred but not essential)

Desirable

  • IRTEC accreditation
