First Military Recruitment is currently seeking an HGV Mechanic on behalf of one of our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Carry out preventive maintenance inspections according to DVSA inspection manual standards, ensuring all relevant documentation is completed to meet Operator Licence and FORS obligations.
2. Perform servicing and repairs on a vehicle and trailer fleet spanning multiple manufacturers and models, while assisting with service delivery.
3. Handle daily defect repairs, replace broken or defective parts, change wheels if punctured or tyre damaged, and prepare vehicles and trailers for MOT.
4. Attend broken down or accident-damaged vehicles and effect permanent or running repairs as required.
5. Prepare and decommission vehicles.
6. Fit and remove a diverse range of ancillary equipment, accessories, and livery.
7. Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, Health and Safety, and Environmental requirements; maintain work areas in a safe and clean condition, including cleaning spillages and disposing of waste appropriately.

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Ability to inspect and diagnose problems with vehicle engines, drivetrains, and mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components accurately and effectively.
2. Competence in using computer-based diagnostic equipment and applying expert judgement, while developing skills and staying updated with the latest vehicle technology.
3. Willingness to attend additional training courses.
4. Category C Licence and valid DCPC are required as a minimum, as you will take vehicles to authorized testing facilities for DVSA vehicle testing, road-test vehicles to check repairs, or move vehicles to other locations as needed.
