Job description

Driver Hire Stockport is recruiting for a HGV Mechanic to work for our client based in Glossop. The successful candidate must be an experienced and fully qualified Mechanic. You will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment with experience in Vehicle Inspection and MOT preparation of vehicles/trailers, fault diagnosis, routine servicing, maintenance, and major component repair and replacement. An HGV licence is preferred but not essential.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on HGV vehicles, but full training will be provided.

There are two shift patterns that change weekly:

• Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday
• Week 2: Thursday & Friday only

Working hours are 6am-6pm with a 1-hour lunch break.

Responsibilities of the Mechanic

• Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and trailers
• Diagnosing and rectifying HGV faults
• Ensuring health & safety regulations are followed
• Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness
• Repairing defects reported by the Transport team

Requirements

• Technical qualification or proven experience in repairing & maintaining HGVs
• Ability to work under pressure
• Problem-solving skills
• Teamwork ability
• Good verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to undertake various tasks
• Understanding of health and safety requirements
• Own tools and boiler suit for on-site work

This is an ongoing role with the possibility of a permanent position.

Pay Rate

Paid weekly via PAYE

£21.03 per hour which equates to £36,228.00 annually.
