HGV Highways Operative – Newton Abbot

Our clients are looking for a Highways Operative to join their hardworking dedicated team in Newton Abbot.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as part of a team undertaking Highways repairs, including Patching, Resurfacing, Potholes, Drainage, Footways, and General Highway Maintenance.
  • Use technology (tablets/apps) to input safety data and maintenance records.
  • Drive/operate plant and equipment where trained, as necessary for daily tasks.
  • Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge.
  • Provide direction/supervision of work to less experienced operatives where appropriate.
  • Maintain a commitment to Health and Safety.
  • Possess good communication skills, basic literacy, and numeracy.
  • Be capable of undertaking manual work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Hold a CSCS Card.
  • Possess an HGV licence.
  • Have NRSWA certification (New Roads and Street Works).
  • Be prepared for Winter Works activities.

Rate of Pay:

  • This is a PAYE position, offering benefits such as accrued holiday pay from day one, weekly pay, and no umbrella fees.
  • Only tax and National Insurance deductions will be made, as shown on your payslip.

This is a temporary role, with the possibility of becoming permanent in the future.
