Job summary

BEAR Scotland Limited is seeking Highway Maintenance Operatives with an HGV licence to join our South East UK operations. You will report to the Operations Supervisor and Manager, supporting traffic management and general maintenance tasks to keep trunk roads moving.

The role is full-time with standby rota and overtime, requiring readiness to respond within 30 minutes of call-out and to work in outdoor conditions across diverse sites in Scotland. Training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Class 2 Licence essential.
• Experience in Roadworks preferred.
• Willingness to undertake training.
• Commitment to Health & Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Erection and removal of temporary signs and barriers (permanent signs and barriers).
• Drainage works, excavation, pipe laying, kerb laying, scrub cutting.
• Installation and fixing of temporary/permanent road furniture.
• Operation of power tools and landscaping equipment.
• Driving vehicles including those with simple attachments.
• Maintaining health and safety of the public, colleagues and yourself.
• Participating in winter standby rota and duties.
• Winter maintenance duties including gritter fitting and operation.
