Job summary

BEAR Scotland is recruiting an HGV Driver / Highway Maintenance Operative to join our road maintenance teams. This full-time, permanent role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with overtime and on‑call rota to cover seasonal and weather-related duties.

You will report to the Operations Supervisor and Manager and help keep Scotland moving by carrying out winter maintenance tasks such as grit body installation, driving gritter, spreading salt, patching carriageways, erecting traffic signs,

Responsibilities

• Winter maintenance duties: fitting gritter body and blade, driving gritter, and salt spreading.
• Winter rota: operating snow ploughs when conditions dictate.
• Health and safety of the public, colleagues and yourself.
• Carriageway patching.
• Traffic sign erection.
• Footway improvements.
• Traffic management.
• Cyclic duties: grip cleaning, sign washing and gully cleaning.
