Job summary

Shorts Group Ltd is seeking a qualified HGV Driver to operate skips, RoRo’s, tippers and RCVs within the disposal site and on public roads in accordance with company procedures.

The role requires a Class 2 Licence and a valid Driver CPC, with the preference for multi-skilled drivers experienced in the waste sector. You will be expected to maintain safety, accuracy and efficiency in daily operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Class 2 Licence.
• Must have a fully valid Driver CPC.
• Waste industry experience preferred.
• Good time keeping and flexible approach to overtime.
• Physically able to perform manual tasks.
• Strong teamwork and customer service skills.
• Strict adherence to health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate HGV vehicles (skips, RoRo’s, tippers, RCVs) with appropriate training.
• Meet or exceed performance targets where possible.
• Comply with Shorts Group ISO and Health & Safety policies.
• Follow traffic laws and site safety procedures at all times.
• Wear PPE and Shorts Group uniform.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and keep vehicle clean.
• Report incidents or accidents promptly, regardless of location.
• Participate in required training sessions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

• HGV Driver covers Skips, RoRo’s, Tippers, RCVs (once appropriate level of training is provided) and should complete all operational duties within guidelines ensuring that wherever possible performance targets are met or exceeded.
• Remain vigilant and challenge anything that may result in service failure or complaints from the customer.
• To comply fully with Shorts group ISO and Health and Safety policies.
• Comply with all traffic laws and legislation as well as safe working practices within the disposal site with relation to your duties including the security and weight of loads.
• Comply with details laid out in Shorts driver manual.
• To wear the correct safety equipment (PPE) and Shorts Group uniform at all times.
• Ensuring that the vehicle is safe to take onto the highway, undertaking daily routine checks of the vehicle as set down in Shorts procedures and VOSA.
• Ensuring that the vehicle is left in a clean state at the end of the working day.
• Reporting of any incidents or accidents regardless of location.
• To take part in any training that is supplied/given.
• Any other duties designated by your manager.

Person Specification
