Job summary

FCC Environment in Eden (CA11 8GU) is hiring an HGV Driver / Loader to carry out waste and recycling collections across the district. The role combines driving with loading bags and bins, working as part of a crew and switching between driver and loader as needed.

You will work safely, use PPE, complete daily vehicle checks, and contribute to accurate reporting. A Cat C or 7.5T licence with CPC is required, along with clear communication and a commitment to safety.

• Valid Cat C or 7.5T licence and digital tachograph card.
• Completed 35 hours of Driver CPC.
• Ability to communicate clearly and lead a small team.

Responsibilities

• Drive refuse/recycling vehicles (up to 26T) and complete daily vehicle checks.
• Assist with loading bags and bins onto the vehicle as part of daily duties.
• Support crew during collection rounds and maintain safety procedures.

Hourly Rate: £16 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week, MondayFriday

About the Role

As an HGV Driver / Loader at FCC Environment, you will carry out waste and recycling collections across the district, ensuring a safe, efficient and high-quality service. This is a practical role where, alongside driving, you will also be responsible for loading bags and bins onto the vehicle as part of your daily duties. Youll work as part of a team, supporting collection rounds and operating as either a driver or a loader, depending on operational requirements.

What Will You Be Doing?

• Work safely and follow all procedures and instructions
• Use correct PPE and equipment, reporting hazards or unsafe conditions
• Secure unattended vehicles/equipment and support energy-efficient practices
• Drive refuse/recycling vehicles (up to 26T) and complete daily vehicle checks
• Collect waste and recycling as part of a crew
• Lead loaders at tipping points and ensure Health & Safety compliance
• Manage paperwork and assist with collection reports and incidents
• Support depot cleaning and general duties when required

What Are We Looking For?

Experience & Competencies
