Job summary

Selecta is seeking an HGV Driver / Installation Technician to safely transport, deliver, position and install vending machines across the UK. The role combines Class 1/2 driving with manual handling and on-site installation, acting as the professional on-site contact for customers.

The position emphasizes customer service, safety compliance, and collaboration with transport and installation teams, with opportunities to support commissioning of equipment as part of development pathways.

Qualifications

• HGV licence classes including Class 1/2; CPC; tachograph card.
• Experience operating HGV vehicles safely and professionally.
• Manual handling and physical delivery experience.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Transport & Delivery: operate Class 1/2 vehicles, perform daily checks, secure loads, complete delivery records.
• Installation & Manual Handling: install vending machines, perform safe manual handling, use specialist equipment.
• Customer Service: represent the company on-site, build relationships, communicate progress and escalate issues.
• Health, Safety & Compliance: follow road transport laws, safety procedures, risk assessments, PPE.
• Operational Support: assist with route planning, coordinate with teams, maintain equipment.

Role Purpose

The HGV Driver / Installation Operative is responsible for the safe transportation, delivery, positioning, and installation of vending machines and associated equipment at customer locations throughout the UK.

The role requires Class 1 and/or Class 2 driving duties combined with manual handling, customer-facing responsibilities, and installation support. As the first point of contact on‑site, the successful candidate will represent the company professionally, ensuring excellent customer service and a positive customer experience throughout the delivery and installation process.

Key Responsibilities

Transport & Delivery

• Safely operate Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles in accordance with company policies and road transport legislation
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly
• Ensure all deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule
• Secure loads correctly and ensure equipment is transported without damage
• Maintain accurate delivery documentation and records

Installation & Manual Handling

• Deliver, manoeuvre, position, and assist with the installation of vending machines and related equipment
• Carry out manual handling activities safely in line with company procedures and risk assessments
• Use specialist handling equipment where required
• Assist with machine positioning, unloading, and site set‑up activities
• Ensure installations are completed to customer requirements and company standards

Customer Service

• Act as the primary company representative on customer sites
• Build positive relationships with customers and site contacts
• Communicate professionally and courteously at all times
• Provide updates to customers regarding delivery and installation progress
• Escalate any customer concerns or site issues to management promptly

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Comply with all road transport legislation, including Drivers' Hours, Working Time Directive, and tachograph regulations
• Follow all company health and safety procedures
• Complete site risk assessments where required
• Wear appropriate PPE and maintain safe working practices
• Report accidents, incidents, near misses, or damage immediately

Operational Support

• Support route planning and scheduling activities
• Work closely with transport, operations, and installation teams
• Assist with collection, relocation, and removal of vending machines as required
• Maintain company equipment and vehicles in a clean and serviceable condition
• Undertake additional operational duties as reasonably required

Requirements

• Valid Class 1 (C+E) and/or Class 2 (Category C) 7.5T C1 HGV Licence
• Valid Driver CPC qualification
• Digital Tachograph Card
• Experience operating HGV vehicles safely and professionally
• Experience in manual handling and physical delivery work
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements
• Flexible approach to working hours and nationwide travel

Desirable

• Experience delivering or installing vending machines, catering equipment, or similar products
• Experience using lifting, moving, or handling equipment
• First Aid qualification
• Forklift, HIAB, or Moffett certification
