Job summary

Civic Recruitment Limited is seeking an HGV Driver for a 2-month contract with a Local Authority. You will operate heavy goods vehicles up to 32 tonnes, support with waste collection, transportation, and recycling, and comply with safety procedures.

Working hours are 36 per week, Monday to Friday, 06:00–14:00. On-site interview on 3 November 2026. Umbrella rate: £24.15 per hour. Applicants must hold Category C licence and CPC qualification.

Qualifications

• Category C HGV Licence required.
• CPC Qualification required.
• Minimum 2 years' experience as an HGV/LGV Driver.
• Experience in waste management, cleansing, or similar environment.
• Ability to complete vehicle safety checks and documentation accurately.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Flexible approach to working hours.

Responsibilities

• Drive HGV vehicles up to 32 tonnes in accordance with licence entitlements.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections and checks.
• Complete driver logbooks accurately.
• Report vehicle defects, incidents and accidents.
• Load, transport and unload waste and other materials as required.
• Assist with sorting and recycling activities.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and equipment.
• Support operational waste and cleansing activities.
• Ensure vehicle security at all times.
• Comply with Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
• Attend training and operate new equipment when required.
• Work professionally with colleagues, customers and members of the public.
