Job summary

EH Smith in Coventry is seeking a Class 2 HGV driver to join our building materials team. The role involves multi-drop deliveries around the local area, driving safely, and maintaining records in a professional manner.

The ideal applicant holds a Cat C licence, with HIAB/ALLMI certification preferred, and a committed, safety-driven approach to daily operations. This is a permanent, full-time position with sociable daytime hours.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

We have a great opportunity for an HGV Driver to join the team at our Coventry branch. You will be making multi-drop deliveries of building materials around the local area in a safe and professional manner.

Hours

• Sociable hours – no overnight stays or late evenings
• 5 hours per week Monday-Friday
• Start and Finish times could be 7:30am-5:00pm / 7:00am-4:30pm / 6:30am-4:00pm
• Participation in the Saturday Morning Rota – working alternate Saturdays mornings

Key tasks of a Class 2 HIAB driver will include:

• Operate HGV and associated equipment in line with licence, competence and company requirements
• Assisting with loading / unloading of HGV vehicles in a safe manner
• Driving an HGV vehicle in accordance with delivery schedule
• Maintaining records of journey times, mileage and hours worked
• Delivering a safe, first-class service to our customers, both trade and retail
• Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting defects
• Operating a tachograph in line with current legislation
• Health & Safety awareness/adherence

Person & Skills

We are looking for a positive, confident, professional and safety-focused individual who wants to provide our customers with service that goes above and beyond.

The successful candidate will need to hold an HGV category C license.

A HIAB/ALLMI certificate and HIAB experience are preferable.
