Job description

Position: Temporary HGV Driver

Location: PL9

Pay Rate: £14.41 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week (4 on, 4 off shift pattern)

Duration: 08/07/2024 - 30/09/2024 (possible extension).

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Temporary HGV Driver to join the team. The ideal candidate will hold at least a Class 2 licence, with a Class 1 licence being highly beneficial.

Responsibilities:

1. Drive and operate specialised equipment and HGVs in line with training and licensing in public environments and permitted sites.
2. Ensure courteous and lawful driving, often manoeuvring in confined spaces for safety.
3. Operate a Hook Loader vehicle.
4. Operate a Skip truck.
5. Drive a Class 1 Articulated truck (if licenced).
6. Collect all waste streams per legislation and schedules, making decisions for unplanned events to avoid service disruption, with manager access as needed.
7. Take charge of allocated vehicle, ensuring daily start/end shift roadworthy checks, defect reporting, and regular cleaning inside and out.
8. Record and complete relevant checks and documentation, both digital and paper.
9. Supervise and motivate crew members to ensure productivity, staff welfare, compliance with standards, and quality service delivery.
10. Periodically lift and carry heavy items and move containers as needed.

Requirements:

1. Full driving licence including HGV Category C
2. Current Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
3. Valid digital tachograph
4. Minimum of a Class 2 HGV licence (Class 1 preferred)
5. Experience with Hook Loader vehicles and Skip trucks.
6. Ability to work a 4 on, 4 off schedule.
