We are seeking a skilled and reliable Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) Driver to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The successful candidate will play an essential role in delivering construction materials and equipment to project sites, ensuring timely and safe operations while adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Transportation of Materials: Safely load, transport, and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment to and from various site locations.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Regularly inspect, maintain, and ensure the HGV is in optimal working condition. Report any issues or needed repairs promptly and adhere to maintenance schedules.
- Compliance with Regulations: Strictly follow traffic laws, safety protocols, and all transport and construction industry regulations. Ensure complete compliance with HGV license requirements.
- Safety & Security: Secure loads effectively to prevent damage or hazards during transit. Maintain awareness of health and safety standards both on the road and on site.
- Collaboration with Site Teams: Work closely with site managers, logistics teams, and other personnel to ensure materials are delivered on time and to the correct location.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of cargo, delivery schedules, and vehicle mileage logs, and ensure the completion of any required paperwork.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve on-the-road issues such as delays or route changes efficiently and communicate any concerns with the appropriate team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- HGV License: A valid and current HGV Class 1 or Class 2 license.
- Driving Experience: Proven experience as an HGV driver, preferably within the construction or logistics sector.
- Knowledge of Regulations: Strong understanding of traffic laws, transport regulations, and HGV vehicle standards.
- Time Management: Ability to plan routes effectively to meet tight schedules and deadlines.
- Safety Awareness: Familiarity with health and safety guidelines in construction and transportation.
