Job summary

An established logistics and environmental services organisation is seeking an experienced HGV Shunter Driver to join its West Midlands depot. This hands-on role involves moving vehicles, tipping operations, stock reloads and ensuring high safety standards.

You will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 2:00pm–10:00pm, in a permanent, full-time position. Key requirements include HGV Class 1 and 2 licences, Driver CPC, ADR, Tachograph, and FLT qualification.

Qualifications

• Full UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Full UK HGV Class 2 (C) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC.
• ADR qualification and Tachograph card.

Responsibilities

• Safely shunt and position HGV vehicles around the depot.
• Bring vehicles in for tipping operations during the shift.
• Reload stock and equipment onto vehicles as required.
• Complete stock control and vehicle documentation accurately.
• Secure, park and manage vehicle keys per site procedures.
• Occasional inter-depot vehicle movements.
• Liaise with maintenance providers and vehicle hire companies.
• Support fleet movements and operational logistics.
• Carry out vehicle checks and report defects promptly.

Salary: £34,840 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm

Overview

An established logistics and environmental services organisation is seeking an experienced HGV Shunter Driver to join its busy depot operation. This is a hands‑on role supporting the day‑to‑day movement of vehicles, fleet preparation and logistics operations within a fast‑paced, safety‑critical environment.

Working closely with the logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are safely moved, tipped, reloaded and prepared for operational use while maintaining high standards of compliance and health & safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely shunt and position HGV vehicles around the depot.
• Bring vehicles in for tipping operations during the shift.
• Reload stock and equipment onto vehicles as required.
• Complete stock control and vehicle documentation accurately.
• Secure, park and manage vehicle keys in accordance with site procedures.
• Carry out occasional inter-depot vehicle movements.
• Liaise with external maintenance providers and vehicle hire companies.
• Support fleet movements and operational logistics.
• Complete vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Maintain excellent communication with supervisors and colleagues.
• Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and transport legislation.

Essential Requirements

• Full UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
• Full UK HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• ADR qualification.
• Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
