Job summary

Osborne Appointments is seeking an experienced HGV Driver for a Bedford-based role. You will deliver and collect furniture and goods across the UK with 1–5 daily deliveries, working Monday to Friday starting at 06:00 for a 40-hour week.

The position is temporary with a view to permanent, paying £19.23 per hour plus a quarterly bonus (£600) and occasional weekend overtime at double rate. Immediate start available for suitable candidates.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 licence (C+E) with CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous HGV driving experience, ideally long-distance/nationwide deliveries.
• Excellent customer service and communication with clients.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently on longer journeys.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate an HGV to deliver furniture and goods to UK sites.
• Load, secure, transport and unload goods, ensuring condition and timeliness.
• Provide professional customer service at delivery locations.
• Complete occasional collections and paperwork accurately.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and comply with driving and safety regulations.

OA are currently working with a well established client based in Bedford, currently looking to recruit for an experienced, HGVDriver to support the delivery and collection of products across the UK.

Duties of a HGV Driver:

• Safely operate an HGV to deliver furniture and goods to commercial client sites across the UK, with typically 1-5 deliveries per day depending on location and route.
• Load, secure, transport and unload goods safely, ensuring products arrive in excellent condition and on schedule.
• Provide professional customer service at delivery locations, communicating clearly and courteously with clients and representing the company positively.
• Complete occasional collections from suppliers, clients or other locations as required, ensuring all relevant paperwork and delivery documentation is completed accurately.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and comply with all relevant driving, vehicle, health & safety and transport regulations.

What we would like from you:

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence, CPC and Digital Tachograph Card, with a good driving record.
• Previous HGV driving experience, ideally involving long-distance / nationwide deliveries and commercial customer sites.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a professional, reliable and courteous approach when dealing with clients.
• Strong understanding of safe loading, securing and handling of goods, with good attention to detail.
• Reliable, organised and comfortable working independently, managing longer journeys and varying delivery schedules with a "get the job done" attitude.
