Job summary

Central Alliance, part of the RS Group, is recruiting a HGV Driver to join our Normanton team in the UK. You will drive our fleet, delivering drill rigs and support equipment to sites across the UK, including busy cities and remote locations.

The role is full-time (45 hours per week) and permanent. We value safety and professional conduct; you will perform pre-drive checks, log driving hours, plan efficient routes, and maintain strong communication with clients and management.

Qualifications

  • Driver certificate of professional competence.
  • Lorry loader qualification desirable.
  • Cat C+E driving licence (with no more than 6 points).
  • Experience driving articulated HGVs, rigid HGVs and lorry loader cranes.
  • Slinger/signaller qualification desirable.
  • Good knowledge of geographical areas and route planning.
  • Self-motivated, organised with good time management and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions, work to deadlines and in a multi-disciplinary team; UK work rights.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to transport legislation and road safety regulations while ensuring vehicles are roadworthy.
  • Deliver goods punctually and maintain communication with management and clients.
  • Uphold professional standards, complying with company policies during deliveries and collections.
  • Plan efficient and safest routes and report delays to the line manager.
  • Conduct pre-journey checks and report defects in a timely manner.
  • Ensure loads are secured and within vehicle load capacity.
  • Keep accurate records of driving hours and mileage to comply with regulations.
  • Follow internal instructions from Transport Manager and drilling supervisors.
  • Attend and pass internal and external training courses as required.
  • Adhere to all policies on site and maintain professional relations with clients and colleagues.

The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a HGV Driver to join the Central Alliance team.

Central Alliance part of the RSK Group have an exciting opportunity for an HGV Driver to join their team in Normanton, UK. We have an opportunity for a HGV Driver to join the Central Alliance team. We are looking for an experienced HGV Driver who can safely and efficiently drive our HGV fleet, delivering our drill rigs and support equipment to sites throughout the UK, which includes delivery to busy cities and to remote parts of the country, as well as providing this service to our clients. We are offering the role on a full-time (45 hours per week), permanent basis.

Accountabilities
  • Adhere to relevant transport legislation and road safety regulations whilst ensuring vehicles are roadworthy.
  • Deliver all goods punctually and maintain effective communication with management and clients.
  • Uphold a professional standard, complying with all company policies during deliveries and collections
  • Plan the most efficient and safest route for journeys, reporting any delays to schedules in a timely manner to line manager
  • Conduct pre-journey checks on Company vehicles in line with DVSA requirements and training. Reporting all defects in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that goods are suitably and securely loaded and protected from damage during transport, and that all loads are within the vehicles’ load capacity.
  • Keep accurate records of driving hours, mileage, to comply with EU and UK regulations.
  • Adhere to working instructions as specified internally from Transport Manager and drilling supervisors.
  • Problem solving, following instructions and working part of a professional, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all clients and employees, acting professionally at all times.
  • Attend and pass internal and industry recognized external training courses. These may include but not limited to, Fire Safety, First Aid, PTS, CSCS, CCNSG
  • Adhere to all RSK company policies and adhere to client policies and procedures when on site.
