Job summary

Pollock Scotrans Ltd in Bathgate is seeking a skilled HGV Technician to maintain fleet to DVSA standards and prepare vehicles for MOT. This role is based in our busy workshop and requires a professional, safety-focused approach.

You will hold NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance (or equivalent) and a full UK driving licence, with a background in commercial vehicle repairs. Overtime available; salary £25 per hour with a 42.5-hour week.

Qualifications

• Qualified up to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Proven background in commercial vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicles to a safe, roadworthy standard in line with DVSA & Group requirements.
• Carry out MOT preparation on Group assets.
• Complete inspection, service and defect paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Carry out high quality repairs in a cost-effective manner.
• Keep workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Support central engineering in identifying failure trends.
• Stay up to date with developments in the industry and changes affecting workshop operations.
• Be organized and methodical in problem solving with attention to detail.
• Undertake manufacturer training courses as needed.
• Take ownership of personal development and seek guidance from team leaders.
• Be accountable for own time, work efficiently and proactively in the workshop.
• Work as part of the wider team and assist others where needed.

About The Role

As a HGV Technician you will:

• Ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard in line with DVSA & Group requirements.
• Carry out MOT preparation on Group assets.

• Ensure that high quality repairs are carried out in a cost-effective manner.

• Support central engineering function in identifying failure trends.
• Keep up to date with developments within the industry and understand changes that may impact the effective operation of the workshop.
• Have an organised and methodical approach to problem solving with attention to detail
• Undertake manufacturer training courses as and when required.
• Take ownership of personal development, seeking assistance & guidance from team leaders.
• Be accountable for your own time, be efficient and proactive when working within the workshop.
• Work as part of the wider team and assist others where needed.

Requirements

• Qualified up to NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Maintenance or equivalent, or proven experience as an HGV Technician or in a similar vehicle maintenance role.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• A proven background in commercial vehicle repairs.
• Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness standards.
• C or C&E driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
