Job summary

Huntingdonshire District Council is seeking a reliable HGV Class 2 Driver to join our frontline team. You will drive and lead a crew on daily rounds, conduct vehicle checks and log issues with in‑cab tech, while engaging respectfully with residents and businesses across the district.

When not driving, you will assist with loading bins and perform outdoor duties in all weather. This role supports essential community services and promotes a safety‑first culture in a busy local authority

Qualifications

• HGV Class C Licence is required.
• CPC Qualification is required.
• Valid Tacho Digicard is required.
• A strong work ethic, good communication skills, and a safety‑first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate collection vehicles, lead your crew on daily rounds, perform vehicle checks and log issues using in‑cab tech.
• Support the team by loading bins and working outdoors in all weather when not driving.

Job description

You’ll drive and operate our collection vehicles, lead your crew on daily rounds, carry out vehicle checks, and ensure safe, efficient waste and recycling collections. You’ll also use in‑cab tech to log issues and complete your round. When not driving, you’ll support the team by loading bins, working outdoors in all weather, and engaging with the public in a polite and professional manner.
