Job summary

Macfarlane Packaging in Reading is seeking an experienced HGV Class 2 Driver to join our team. You will perform local palletised deliveries, typically Monday–Friday, 42.5 hours per week, with a basic salary up to £36,500 depending on experience.

A Driver Efficiency Bonus of £2,100 annually is available, plus an annual performance bonus. The role includes a generous holiday entitlement and a market-standard benefits package.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 license is required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver multiple local region customer drops (1–15 daily).
• Operate and drive HGV vehicles safely in accordance with company policies and legislation.
• Load your vehicle daily and secure loads for safety."
• Provide a professional HGV driving service to meet customer expectations.
• Always comply with vehicle security and standing procedures.
• Carry out vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks and report defects.
• Report any delivery issues or exceptions in a timely manner.
• Maintain health and safety for yourself and others under the Health and Safety at Work Act.

HGV Class 2 Driver - Key Duties

• Multiple customer deliveries in the local region (average of 1-15 drops daily)
• Drive Company HGV vehicles and operate Company equipment in a safe and professional manner in accordance with Company policies, procedures & legislation
• Load your vehicle daily on return and secure load for safety (using forklifts, reach/counterbalance)
• Provide a professional HGV driving service, to meet & exceed customer expectations
• Always comply with the vehicle security and standing procedure
• Carry out HGV vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks (reporting defects) prior to the operation of any vehicle
• Report any delivery issues or exceptions in a timely manner
• Responsible for the Health and Safety of themselves and others, adhering to safe working practices and the Health & Safety at Work Act, including accident, incident, and damage reporting
