Job summary

Coventry City Council is recruiting for a permanent HGV Driver within the Waste and Recycling Service. You will collect household and commercial waste and recycling across Coventry, Nuneaton, Bedworth, and surrounding areas, working outdoors as part of a frontline team.

Our Waste Services Team delivers an essential frontline service to more than 126,000 households, providing waste, recycling and garden waste collections across the city. Each year, we complete over 9 million collections and manage more than 100,000 tonnes of waste.

As part of the team, you'll help deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service that makes a real difference to local communities, while supporting the city's environmental and sustainability goals.

We have a number of permanent HGV Driver vacancies available across our Domestic Waste, Commercial Waste, and Nuneaton and Bedworth Domestic Recycling Collection teams.

As part of our dedicated frontline workforce, you'll help deliver essential waste and recycling services to residents and businesses across Coventry, Nuneaton, Bedworth, and the surrounding area. We're looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Waste and Recycling Service. This is a rewarding opportunity to play an essential role in delivering a high-quality, reliable service that makes a real difference to local residents and businesses every day.

Working under the direction of our Supervising Team Leaders, you'll be part of a supportive team responsible for collecting household and commercial waste and recycling across the city. No two days are the same, and you'll enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and contributing directly to the environment and wellbeing of the communities we serve.

What you'll be doing:

  • Collecting household, commercial waste and recycling from a variety of locations.
