Job summary

Pure Staff Driving in Newport is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Night Driver for ongoing night trunk runs and pallet collections using modern Class 1 vehicles. Immediate starts available for reliable drivers.

Night shifts typically start 17:00–19:00, with 10–12 hour shifts. Loads are forklift-loaded with no handball; holiday pay and weekly PAYE pay are provided. Opportunities for ongoing night work with competitive rates.

Qualifications

• UK Category C+E (Class 1) Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC Qualification.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Minimum 6 month's Class 1 experience preferred.
• No more than 6 penalty points with no TT, TS, MS, DR, or DD endorsements.
• Professional, reliable, and safety-conscious attitude.

Responsibilities

• Complete trunking runs and pallet collection work safely and efficiently.
• Operate Class 1 vehicles in line with transport legislation and company procedures.
• Open and close vehicle curtains as required for loading/unloading.
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Ensure all delivery and collection paperwork is completed accurately.
• Adhere to Driver Hours and Working Time Regulations at all times.
• Maintain a professional manner when dealing with customers and transport teams.
• Wear the correct PPE whilst working, including safety boots and hi-vis clothing.
• Successfully complete a driving assessment prior to starting work.

The Role

As an HGV Class 1 Night Driver, you will be completing a mixture of trunk runs and pallet collections using modern Class 1 vehicles.

All loads are forklift-loaded and unloaded, meaning there is no handball involved. Drivers will simply be required to open and close the vehicle curtains where necessary.

Night shifts typically start between 17:00 and 19:00, with average shift lengths of 10 to 12 hours. This is an ongoing opportunity with immediate starts available for suitable candidates.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need

Pay Rates

• Monday to Friday Nights - £17.50 per hour plus £2.11 per hour accrued holiday pay (equivalent to £19.61 per hour including holiday pay).
• Saturday Nights - £20.00 per hour plus £2.41 per hour accrued holiday pay (equivalent to £22.41 per hour including holiday pay).
• Sunday Nights - £22.00 per hour plus £2.65 per hour accrued holiday pay (equivalent to £24.65 per hour including holiday pay).
