Job description

PERMANENT PART TIME VACANCIES - CLASS 1 HGV DRIVERS £17.46 PER HOUR + PREMIUMS

Wincanton is offering the opportunity for Class 1 HGV Lorry Drivers to join our delivery team out of our Islip and Thrapston Distribution Centres in Kettering.

Delivering palletised goods to RDCs or stores, ensuring that the loads are secured correctly and that the goods are delivered on time, offloaded in the correct manner, paperwork is signed, and any agreed waste or pallets are collected to be returned.

Are you an experienced Class 1 HGV driver looking for week end work? We have part time vacancies available - either 2, 3 or 4 days a week!

  • £17.46 per hour
  • Plus attractive weekend premiums!
  • 18hrs, 27hrs or 36hrs per week contracts available
  • Shift patterns - Friday to Monday, Saturday to Monday or Saturday to Sunday.
  • Start times AM or PM available.
  • 5 from 7 contract

Additional premiums:

  • 10% for hours worked between 1600 - 21.59
  • 20% for hours working between 2200 - 0559
  • 30% for Saturday & Sunday

How will you contribute?

  • Responsible for the accurate, timely movement and delivery of our customers' products.
  • Adhering to safe working practices to ensure the safety of yourself and others at all times.
  • Securing load of the trailer to ensure products are safely secured to minimise chances of damage.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times and to take ownership of customer issues on delivery.
  • Carry out multi-drop deliveries within the delivery window in a safe manner.
  • Be aware of any vehicle defects and bring to the attention of Transport Office as necessary.
  • Attend essential training in order to carry out the Driver role.

What will you bring?

  • Must have valid in date Class 1 licence
  • Must have valid in date CPC
  • Must hold Digital tachograph card
  • Must not have more than 6 points on licence
  • Must have minimum 6 months class 1 driving experience
  • Possess excellent customer facing awareness skills
  • Good timekeeper and able to work unsupervised
  • Enthusiastic and reliable with a commitment to delivering first class customer service
  • Must have good communication skills and a flexible can-do attitude to work
  • Must have a good geographical knowledge
