Job description

Job Title – HGV Driver

Job Location –Hertfordshire

Salary – £15 per hr (50 hour working week)

Our client is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and trustworthy individual to join their high performing team as a HGV Driver, covering the UK and across Europe.

Our client is an international logistics provider that offers bespoke solutions for art handling, installation and art transport. They are a trusted partner to leading artists, commercial galleries, collectors and public museums worldwide.

Joining the team as a HGV Driver, you will be required to assist with the loading of art products and transporting these to scheduled galleries and museums.

It is an interactive role and you will have the opportunity to build relationships directly with artists and collectors.

Because of the client aspect of the role, you must be of smart appearance, cheerful and self-motivated. You will be expected to complete overtime when necessary to maintain service levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Complying with all drivers’ hours and Road Transport Directive legislation
  • Loading and unloading vehicle and maintaining safety and security of load at all times
  • Carrying out all necessary checks to ensure vehicle is safe and legal and following appropriate procedures if it is not
  • Acting as company ambassador when dealing with clients
  • Completing all paperwork
  • Adjusting routes when necessary
  • Providing feedback to the traffic office on any issues around load planning and routing
  • Complying with all Health & Safety requirements in depot, on road and at customers’ premises and taking responsibility for ensuring own fitness to drive at all times

Key Skills/Experience Needed:

  • 2 years minimum HGV driving experience is essential
  • Experience of delivering across Europe
  • Thorough knowledge of driver’s hours’ legislation, tachograph procedures and other legal obligations
  • Demonstrable route planning and map reading ability
  • Knowledge of load restraint procedures
