Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, is hiring experienced HGV Class 1 drivers for a busy 24-hour operation in Minworth. This 4 on 4 off night-shift role requires flexibility with start times and a safety-focused, professional approach to deliveries to supermarket RDCs and customer sites.

Starting pay is £16.49 per hour with supplements for working between 18:00–06:00. Applicants should have a valid C+E licence, DCPC and Tachograph cards, and be compliant with Driver Hours rules.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E licence is required.
• Minimum 12 months HGV Class 1 experience preferred; new pass drivers not accepted.
• No more than 6 points and no DD or DR convictions on licence.
• Current DCPC and Tachograph cards are required.
• Good understanding of Driver’s Hours and Working Time Directive regulations.
• Ability to perform vehicle checks and report defects.
• Commitment to on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver to supermarket RDCs, cash & carry locations, and customer sites.
• Complete curtain-sided trailer work, including loading/unloading and securing loads.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report defects accurately.
• Work safely and professionally in line with procedures and regulations.
• Maintain regular communication with transport office during shifts.
• Complete paperwork including proofs of delivery accurately.
• Be flexible to work across different transport activities as needed.

Job Description

We’re looking for experienced HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Great Bear team in Minworth, This is a great opportunity to join a busy 24-hour transport operation supporting FMCG, supermarket RDC, cash and carry, and warehousing deliveries. We are recruiting night shift drivers working on a 4 on 4 off working pattern. The operation runs around the clock, so we are looking for drivers who can be flexible with start times and are confident working in a fast-paced transport environment. Shift patterns available

• 4 on 4 off Nights

Start times vary due to the nature of the operation, with night drivers supporting the evening and overnight operating. Drivers are allocated a planned start time, with some flexibility required around operational needs.

We have increased our pay rates, with hourly rates now starting at £16.49 plus shift supplements for working between 18:00 - 06:00

What you’ll be doing

• Delivering to supermarket RDCs, cash and carry locations, and customer sites.
• Completing curtain-sided trailer work, including opening and closing curtains and securing loads.
• Completing daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects correctly.
• Working safely and professionally in line with company procedures, driver hours, tachograph rules, and WTD legislation.
• Maintaining regular communication with the transport office throughout your shift.
• Completing paperwork accurately, including proof of delivery documentation.
• Supporting a flexible operation where drivers may be required to work across different types of transport activity as needed.
