Job summary

Ascott Transport Limited (ATL) in Carlisle is seeking an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our depot team on a 4 on, 4 off shift from 0700 to 1900.

You will handle deliveries, complete vehicle checks, liaise with the Transport Office and customers, and uphold DVSA safety standards while representing ATL. This role supports a fast-growing, family-owned transport specialist focused on delivering reliable, quality logistics.

Qualifications

• Holder of Class C+E licence and CPC card.
• Less than 6 penalty points on licence.
• Experience with tug work is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver goods in line with manifest instructions.
• Obtain customer signatures as proof of delivery.
• Complete daily vehicle and trailer defect checks.
• Carry out full vehicle safety checks per DVSA requirements.
• Communicate clearly with Transport Office and customers.
• Load, unload, and secure goods safely.
• Ensure vehicles are parked securely and kept clean.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and SSOW.
• Work flexibly as part of a high-performing team.
• Adhere to RTD, EU regulations and Operator’s Licence.
