Job summary

CML, part of the Culina Group, is recruiting for HGV Class 1 Drivers in Lutterworth. This permanent, full-time role offers a 4 on 4 off shift pattern with nights and days, early starts, and potential weekend options. Base salary up to £36,008.61 plus overtime to boost earnings.

You will deliver to key retail customers across the UK and uphold high safety and service standards. Responsibilities include loading/unloading, paperwork, PODs, and maintaining vehicle checks and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Must hold LGV Class C+E Licence and valid DCPC.
• Minimum 6 months experience driving Class 1; new passes considered with training.
• Full UK Driving Licence with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and drivers’ hours.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, professional deliveries to customer premises across the UK.
• Carry out load/unload duties with bread baskets, trolleys and returns.
• Report delays or issues to Transport team and sign PODs.
• Complete paperwork accurately and maintain tachograph compliance.
• Maintain professional behaviour and customer service standards.
• Observe site procedures and meet fuel efficiency targets.

Job Description

We’re looking for professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our CML team in Lutterworth, supporting a busy transport operation delivering to key retail customers across the UK. This is a permanent opportunity offering full-time stability, a regular 4 on 4 off shift pattern and the chance to be part of a supportive transport team where safe driving, reliability and high standards are valued every day.

Shift patterns available

• 4 on 4 off Shifts available (Nights and Days)
• Variety of Shift start times available,
• Various shift patterns available, with ideal start-time windows currently ranging from 00:30 to 04:30, and between 08:00 and 15:00 giving you a choice of early morning and daytime shifts
• Later Shifts starting between 18:30 and 22:30
• Weekend-only shift options may also be considered, including Saturday and Sunday availability.

Pay rates

Base Salary up to £36008.61 plus opportunity for overtime to boost earning potential.

What you’ll be doing:

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises across the UK.
• The role includes a mix of store and depot deliveries, with some routes involving physical duties such as moving trolleys, handling bread baskets and returning empty baskets.
• Load and unload where required, including bread baskets, trolleys and empty basket returns on some routes.
• Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and keep them updated on delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
• Follow company procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects correctly and take responsibility for your unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a professional standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.
• Observe and adhere to site procedures at each delivery & collection point
• Report any issues with delivery or collection arrival times, delays, or load discrepancies immediately.
• Ensure proof of deliveries (PODs) are signed and returned to the Transport Office after delivery
• Ensure regular communication with the Transport Office / Customer Services
• Any other duties as reasonably required
• Achieve and succeed fuel efficiency targets set by the business

Qualifications

• Possession of LGV Class C+E Licence and valid DCPC
• Minimum 6 months experience driving Class 1 experience preferred.
• Newly qualified drivers may be considered through a separate new pass route, subject to training availability.
