Job summary

Fowler Welch is seeking professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join the team in Teynham, supporting the Chilled operation and delivering to key retail customers across the UK. This permanent, full-time role offers stability with a variety of shift patterns and duties including RDC, Farms and Packhouse deliveries.

You will be part of a supportive transport team valuing safe driving, reliable service and high professional standards, with paid CPC training on a working day and weekly pay.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence and DCPC/Digital Tachograph cards.
• Minimum 6 months HGV Class 1 driving experience preferred.
• No more than 6 points and no DD/DR convictions.
• Good understanding of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Directive.
• Excellent communication and professional appearance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises across the UK.
• Complete nationwide deliveries of palletised goods to RDCs, Farms and Packhouses.
• Report delays or issues to Transport team at shift start.
• Complete paperwork and obtain PODs signed and returned.
• Follow health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage working time per Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report defects; maintain unit and trailer.
• Maintain professional behaviour and customer service.

Job Description

We’re looking for professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our Fowler Welch team in Teynham supporting our Chilled operation and delivering to key retail customers across the UK.

This is a permanent role offering full-time stability for HGV Class 1 drivers who will be responsible for RDC, Farms and Packhouse deliveries. This role is ideal for a HGV driver who takes pride in safe driving, excellent customer service and dependable delivery standards. You’ll be joining a supportive transport team where safe driving, reliable service and high professional standards are valued every day.

Shift patterns available

• Sun - Weds (02:00, 17:00 and 22:00 Starts)
• Thurs to Sat (17:00, 20:00 Starts)
• Thurs to Sun (22:00 Start)
• Sun to Weds (17:00, 22:00 Starts)
• Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sat (02:00 Start)
• Mon, Thurs, Fri and Sat (06:00, 14:00 Start)
• Weekend Drivers

Salary:

Pay rates

• Pay rates range from £15.84 - £25.41 per hour depending on shift, plus opportunity for overtime and subsistence allowance

What you'll be doing:

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises across the UK.
• We have a variety of roles available including Night Outs, Trunking, and local store deliveries.
• Complete nationwide deliveries of palletised goods to Regional Distribution Centres, Farms and Packhouses
• Report to the Transport team at the start of each shift and keep them updated on delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned to the Transport Office.
• Follow company procedures, including health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Manage your working time in line with the Road Transport Directive and tachograph rules.
• Complete daily vehicle checks and report defects correctly and take responsibility for your unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a professional standard of behaviour, appearance and customer service at all times.

What we're looking for:

• Valid C+E Licence.
• Current valid DCPC and Digital Tachograph cards.
• Minimum 6 months’ HGV Class 1 driving experience preferred.
• Newly qualified drivers will be considered if you show the right attitude and willingness to learn.
• No more than 6 points on your licence, with no DD or DR code convictions.
• Good understanding of Drivers’ Hours and Working Time Directive legislation.
• Ability to complete vehicle checks and report defects correctly.
• Commitment to on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional approach.
