Job summary

Great Bear (Part of the Culina Group) is seeking a Transport operative to support night shifts at the Oldham site, focusing on route optimisation, driver-hours compliance and accurate documentation. You will work with the transport team to ensure secure loading and timely deliveries.

Job description

Great Bear (Part of the Culina Group) provides distribution services to FMCG clients. Customer centric service focus is delivered through a site-level empowered culture.

Shift Pattern - Any 5 in 7 nights. Start time: 12:00 - 16:00 15:00 - 19:00.

Salary - £15.28 p/h + £1.50 p/h between 18:01 and 03:59 x 7 days, and £1.50 p/h for every hour worked Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities

• Optimising all routes and adherence to WTD and drivers’ hours legislation
• Controlling equipment through training received and sign in / sign out procedure, ensuring legal compliance
• Ensuring all pallets / loads are secured using load straps
• Effectively communicating with the Transport team and other depots
• Ensuring retailer arrival and departure times, ensuring deliveries and collections are made within the specified windows and all delivery documentation / goods are signed for and uploaded using the in cab tablet.
• Providing the admin team at end of shift with a completed timesheet, completed delivery paperwork and advising of any equipment defects
• Communicating any potential failures or changes to the original plan
• Liaising with delivery staff to ensure any discrepancies on the delivery are identified before moving on to the next delivery / collection
• Ensuring all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported
• Working with the driver training & development team to maximise fuel MPG and continuous improvement of Microlise driving standards / techniques.
• Managing vehicle and trailer cleanliness ensuring that the company’s corporate image is maintained at all

Qualifications

• C+E Licence (minimum 12 month experience)
• Tachograph card
• DCPC qualification card
• Maximum 6 points no drug or drink driving, no careless / dangerous driving
• Attention to detail/accuracy
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• Flexible and methodical approach to work start times, end times and training
