Class 1 HGV VEHICLE TRANSPORTER / RECOVERY DRIVER - £38k plus average uncapped monthly commission of £1,500 upwards!

Job Description

Due to continued expansion and three new transporters on order, BMS Cars requires additional Class 1 HGV Vehicle Transporter / Recovery Drivers to join our team. This role involves driving and loading a 26-tonne twin-deck 8-car transporter. BMS Cars is a busy garage based in Sidlesham, south of Chichester, with extensive facilities including a workshop, MOT bay, and vehicle sales operations.

The role offers significant growth opportunities, training, and career progression. You will typically undertake 2-3 trips weekly, staying overnight 2-4 nights in the sleeper cab, collecting various vehicles including damaged ones, and appraising each vehicle at collection.

Duties Include

• Driving and operating an 8-vehicle transporter with a spec lift
• Following predefined routes for vehicle collections
• Inspecting vehicles for description accuracy and fault codes
• Loading broken-down vehicles from private addresses, sometimes with poor access
• Communicating vehicle conditions to Head Office
• Loading and unloading vehicles in all conditions
• Adhering to driving regulations

Requirements

• A current Class 1 HGV license
• Good mechanical knowledge and an interest in cars
• Previous motor trade experience
• Experience recovering accident-damaged or salvage vehicles
• Excellent customer service skills
• A proactive attitude in challenging situations
• Good initiative and problem-solving skills
• Reliability and excellent timekeeping

Compensation & Benefits

Basic salary of £38,000 (dependent on experience) plus uncapped monthly commission averaging £1,500+
