Job summary

Unitruc Ltd in the East Midlands Gateway area is recruiting a HGV Class 1 ADR Relief Driver for a permanent Day shift on a fixed pattern. You will run on our Kuehne+Nagel contract, with a guaranteed weekly hours framework and extra training to build confidence and mileage.

Role involves trunking, deliveries and ADR work when required, with full training provided. A valid HGV Class 1 licence, tachograph, CPC card and ADR training are preferred; ADR initial licence is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence required or recently qualified.
• Digital tachograph card valid for driving hours recording.
• Up-to-date CPC card holder.

Responsibilities

• Trunking with trailer swaps and deliveries to commercial premises.
• Occasional ADR deliveries; training provided where needed.
• Ensure loads are safely strapped and secured per regulations.

HGV Class 1 ADR Relief Driver – Day Shift (East Midlands Gateway)

A permanent Day shift relief position on our dedicated Kuehne+Nagel contract at East Midlands Gateway, covering both Class 1 and Class 2 work. Newly passed Class 1 drivers are welcome to apply – we offer extra training and experience to help you build your confidence and mileage.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent – fixed Day shift

Location: Kuehne + Nagel, East Midlands Gateway

Hours: Guaranteed minimum of 48 hours a week, plus overtime available. Night outs are possible but unlikely.

Salary: £17.00 per hour. Overtime after 51.75 hours per week at 1.3x, weekends at 1.5x and bank holidays at 2x. Plus a £40 per week good workmanship bonus, paid monthly. Night outs paid at £31.25.

The Role - HGV Class 1 ADR Relief Driver

• You’ll work directly on our customer’s contract on a fixed Day shift pattern, covering both Class 1 and Class 2 vehicles as required.
• Our client is your point of contact for operational and trailer issues; any vehicle or other work-related issues are dealt with by us directly.
• Full training is given to familiarise you with the role and get you settled in.
• These roles are independent and suit drivers who like to think for themselves.
• ADR deliveries are part of this job, so a current ADR licence is a strong advantage – but it’s not essential, as we’ll provide training to the right candidates.

The role typically involves trunking with trailer swaps, along with deliveries and collections to commercial premises. All loads must be safely strapped and secured in line with company and legal requirements. Any delays or issues should be communicated promptly to the customer to maintain service standards.

What You’ll Need for the HGV Class 1 ADR Relief Driver role

• A keen, efficient approach and sound safe working practices.
• A valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence – recently qualified drivers welcome.
• A valid digital tachograph.
• Up-to-date CPC card.
• ADR licence preferred, all classes except 1 & 7 (not required – training available).
