Job summary

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our busy workshop in Gloucester. You will diagnose, repair and service electrical systems on a wide range of specialist commercial vehicles, with roadside fault-finding responsibilities as needed.

The role offers 7:00am–5:00pm scheduling with room to discuss alternatives for the right applicant, plus flexible hours, enhanced overtime rates, a company van and a life assurance scheme.

Qualifications

• Diagnostics, fault finding and repair of vehicle electrical systems.
• Identify defects on vehicles and ancillary equipment, including electrical issues.
• Inspect and prepare vehicles for MOT, ensuring standards.
• Carry out roadside fault finding and repairs as a mobile technician.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics, fault finding and repair of vehicle electrical systems.
• Undertake timely repairs of HGVs to manufacturer standards and timeframes.
• Offer technical advice to workshop technicians with a focus on training and development.
• Identify and diagnose defects on vehicles and ancillary equipment (mechanical and electrical).
• Inspect and prepare vehicles for MOT to exceed required standards.
• Carry out electrical repairs on a range of specialist commercial vehicles.
• Carry out roadside fault finding and repairs as a mobile technician.
• Repair damage defects to uphold brand image.

The HGV Technician role is based on a 7:00am - 5:00pm schedule, though we are open to discussing alternative arrangements for the right applicant., We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled HGV Auto Electrician to join our busy HGV transport workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and a passion for keeping vehicles on the road to the highest standard.

• Diagnostics, fault finding and repair of vehicle electrical systems
• Undertake timely repairs of HGVs in accordance with manufacturer technical standards and timeframes.
