Job summary

Get Golfing CIO, Hampton Court Palace Golf Club’s charity partner, is seeking an Assistant Greenkeeper to join a dedicated course team. You will help maintain greens, tees, fairways, and the surrounding landscape to a high standard while supporting heritage-style renovations and a new fairway irrigation system.

You will learn from experienced greens staff, take part in renovation projects, and help protect one of the country’s most special golfing environments with a commitment to sustainable

Qualifications

• Level 2 in Sports Turf Management, or working towards it.
• Experience in golf course maintenance or a similar turf or grounds role is preferred.
• Knowledge of turf care and environmentally responsible practices.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A passion for golf and the outdoors, and a commitment to high standards.
• The ability to work efficiently and safely, often early in the morning and in all weathers.
• Weekend and Bank Holiday availability on a rota basis.
• A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain greens, tees, fairways and surrounds, including mowing, rolling, watering and daily course set up.
• Cut new holes, move tee markers and keep greens in excellent condition.
• Renovate, rake and maintain bunkers, including the heritage style bunker programme.
• Repair damage caused by golfers and wildlife, especially deer and badgers, quickly and to a high standard.
• Care for the wider landscape in line with SSSI and Historic Royal Palaces guidelines.
• Treat and control weeds, pests and disease using sustainable, environmentally responsible methods where permitted.
• Help with drainage work and apply irrigation as needed, including on the new fairway irrigation system.
• Operate, clean and carry out basic maintenance on machinery and tools safely.
• Support construction and renovation projects across the course and driving range.
• Be friendly and helpful to members and visitors, and represent the club professionally.
