Job summary

Swindon Borough Council is seeking a Graduate Design & Conservation Officer to support the Design & Conservation team with heritage planning and listed building consent applications. You will contribute to conservation area appraisals, the Local List, and other heritage-led projects under supervision.

The role provides training on the job, professional development opportunities, and requires travel across the Borough with access to a car. Fluency in English is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate level role aimed at early career professionals in public-sector heritage conservation.
• Fluent English is required for customer-facing role.
• Ability to travel throughout the Borough and access to a car.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on planning and listed building consent applications involving heritage.
• Contribute to town centre regeneration and policy creation; promote high-quality built and historic environments in Swindon.
• Support the Senior Design & Conservation Officer and deliver on longer term projects within the team.
