Job summary

West Dean College invites applications for a part-time Collections Care Officer. The role supports care and protection of historic collections, interiors and archives across West Dean and College sites. You will work with the Collections Manager to implement care policies, monitor environmental conditions and provide training to staff, students and volunteers.

The position is 21 hours per week, permanent, with a salary of £16,524 p.a. (FTE £27,540), and a hybrid working pattern.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge of collections care and preventative conservation.
• Understanding of environmental monitoring (temp, humidity, light).
• Strong record-keeping and documentation skills.
• Ability to train and provide demonstrations to colleagues and volunteers.

Responsibilities

• Support the Collections Manager in implementing collections care policies.
• Develop and improve practical collections care standards.
• Monitor temperature, humidity, light and pest activity; report risks.
• Supervise access to collections and support house tours and exhibitions.
