Join a vibrant team as a Heritage and Volunteer Manager at a unique arts venue in London. This role offers the chance to lead engaging heritage projects and work closely with volunteers and the community. You'll be at the forefront of initiatives like the 'You Are Here' project, which highlights local heritage through digital storytelling. If you're passionate about heritage and community engagement, this is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a historic setting.
Paddington Development Trust is seeking to appoint a passionate Heritage and Volunteer Manager to join our small team at one of London’s most vibrant and unusual arts and heritage venues, Grand Junction at St Mary Magdalene’s.
Grand Junction at St Mary Magdalene’s, run by Paddington Development Trust, is a highly valued Grade I Listed church building. It delivers a diverse cultural, heritage, and community programme for local and London-wide audiences. Since launching in 2019, it has hosted events, concerts, tours, and talks, collaborating with various external promoters and partners.
Located ten minutes’ walk from Paddington Station, the building is one of the finest neo-Gothic churches in the country. Built in the 1870s by Victorian architect G.E. Street, it features architecture, sculpture, stained glass, and a painted ceiling crafted by the best artists and craftsmen of the era. The church has been restored, and a new building designed by Dow Jones Architects has been added, providing a café, learning studio, and visitor facilities.
You will lead our heritage and volunteer programmes as an integral member of the team. Your role involves working with volunteers and the local community to deliver a high-quality heritage offer and a meaningful volunteering experience. A key focus will be on the You Are Here project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, which explores the heritage of local community groups and the Grade I Listed building through digital outputs across multiple strands.
