Our Farm

We are a family dairy business covering 400 acres in South Warwickshire. Our dairy consists of a herd of 400 Holsteins, which are milked three times a day through a 24/24 GEA parlour. The cows average 12,500 litres, which is then supplied on an Arla Tesco contract, with all our records kept up to date using Uniform. The herd calves year-round and while the dry cows are out in the summer.

We pride ourselves on our milk quality, staff structure, and facility investment. You will make up a full-time team of five, with additional part-time workers, who are all given opportunities for development and training.

Your Role

Working with the Farm Owners, this is an exciting opportunity for a Herd Manager to establish themselves within the business and drive the dairy forward. Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Overall staff management of all staff members and contractors, including weekly staff rotas, training, holiday and recruitment.
  • Taking full responsibility for dry cow management, calving cows and colostrum protocols.
  • Overseeing the herd's fertility, utilising data provided by heat detection collars to aid high animal welfare
  • Maintain and build strong working relationships with third-party visitors, including consultants, auditors, vets and nutritionists
  • Undertake proactive management of health and safety standards across the farm.
  • Working closely with the Farm Owner to develop the strategy for the farm.
  • Ensuring the farm is kept tidy and safe to operate at all times
  • General yard duties
  • Demonstrate previous experience or knowledge in intensive systems
  • Possess the skills to motivate and communicate effectively with others
  • Be a self starter, who has high attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Show aspiration to take on extra responsibility
  • Overall, a reliable and genuine person who is invested in moving the farm forward
  • AI & Foot trimming qualifications are preferred but not essential
  • A full UK Driving license
  • Proof of UK right to work
  • This is a full-time role and we can be flexible with working patterns depending on your needs
  • £50,000 - £55,000 per year. Dependent on your experience
  • Potential business equity in the future
  • 4-Bedroom house available
