Hedge Fund Core Operations Specialist - Newcastle based role

My financial services client is looking for a Hedge Fund Core Operations Specialist to be based in their Newcastle office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Operations / Middle Office trade processing.

Requirements include:

  • High-level education, with at least 1 year of operations processing experience, gained through a degree placement or post-study role.
  • Experience from a large investment bank or asset manager is preferred.
  • Relevant experience is essential; sponsorship or work permit support is not available.

The role involves gaining a thorough understanding of all front-to-back business flows and assisting with ad hoc tasks. Key skills include strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

The candidate will be responsible for managing and controlling high levels of risk, with an understanding of trading, risk oversight, and compliance, in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Primary responsibilities include daily reconciliations, trade queries related to settlement, same-day trade matching, and broker queries. There may also be project work related to ongoing business initiatives.

Essential product knowledge includes:

  • Equity (swap and cash), Fixed Income, Credit, Swap, Futures, and FX products.
