Heavy Vehicle Technician

The Role

As a Heavy Vehicle Technician, you'll play a vital role in keeping critical assets in top condition. Your work will cover the full spectrum of mechanical and electrical maintenance on heavy-duty machinery, specialist vehicles, and associated systems.

Key responsibilities include:

Performing planned inspections, servicing, and overhauls on large mechanical and electrical systems.

Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on braking, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems.

Replacing and installing components such as motors, actuators, switchgear and control panels.

Following technical documentation and schematics to complete maintenance to a high standard.

Completing condition checks, ensuring all work meets safety, compliance, and quality standards.

Maintaining accurate records and working collaboratively within a skilled engineering team.

This role operates on a 4 on 4 pattern working 12 hours shifts, with regular overtime available.

About You

This is a great opportunity for individuals with experience in heavy engineering or vehicle environments, such as HGVs, plant machinery, aerospace, industrial maintenance, or comparable sectors.

You will need:

Qualification in either mechanical or electrician engineering (Level 3 minimum)

Strong knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

Proven experience maintaining or overhauling heavy equipment or vehicles.

A reliable, safety-focused mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.

Flexibility to work shifts and support operational requirements.

All candidates must complete pre-employment checks, including a medical assessment, drug & alcohol screening, and DBS.
