• Hourly Pay Rate: £21.48 PAYE / £28.65 Umbrella
• Shifts: 4 on 4 off Nights
• Hours per Week: Average 40 hours
• Duration: On-going contract

Position Summary

The role involves Mechanical overhaul and maintenance, including routine maintenance from written work instructions, Mechanical Examinations on Rolling Stock, mechanical modifications, and heavy component changes. This is a Safety Critical position essential for the safe and reliable operation of the fleet.

Responsibilities

1. Remove large components such as axle boxes
2. Work from written instructions (VMI)
3. Work from Mechanical Engineering drawings, following specific measurements
4. Replace mechanical components according to engineering drawings
5. Perform routine fleet checks to ensure safety
6. Collaborate flexibly within a maintenance team

Person Profile / Experience

No previous rail experience required. Candidates with Mechanical Maintenance or Overhaul experience in the following areas will be considered:

• Avionics (commercial)
• HVAC
• Process Engineering
• Production Plants
• Mechanic
• Automotive (routine maintenance on cars/trucks/HGV)
• Defence (maintenance on submarines, ships, aircraft)
• Ex-Forces Mechanical Engineer (maintenance on aircraft, helicopters, HGV - REME, RAF, Navy)

Qualifications

Level 3 or above formal qualification is required.
