Job DescriptionJob Description

We're seeking a Road Service Technician to join the team! In this role, you'll be responsible for servicing and repairing forklifts and other equipment sold by W.D. Matthews Machinery Co. at customer sites. This is a field-based position that operates out of a company vehicle and involves hands-on diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance on forklifts, aerial lifts, manlifts, and other equipment (gas, diesel, propane, and electric powered)
  • Operate and maintain a company service vehicle
  • Maintain detailed and accurate service records, payroll logs, and parts tracking
  • Respond to customer repair needs with professionalism and urgency
  • Safely clean and maintain equipment; follow lockout/tagout and other safety protocols
  • Communicate effectively with customers and dispatch to ensure timely job completion
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with company standards
  • Occasionally fabricate or modify equipment as needed

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of mechanical experience, preferably with forklifts or industrial equipment
  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational/technical training in automotive, hydraulics, or equipment repair
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills; computer literacy for diagnostic software
  • Must supply personal tools to complete repairs
  • Valid, unrestricted Class C driver’s license and insurability under company policy
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs., work in varied environments, and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and kneeling
  • Must pass pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screening
