Job Description

DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS) seeks a motivated and skilled Mechanic with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and extensive mechanical expertise. This role involves repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment under the guidance of the Shop Manager. Responsibilities include performing mechanical repairs, maintaining diesel and gasoline equipment, conducting inspections, completing preventive maintenance, addressing vehicle deficiencies, maintaining accurate repair records, and ensuring shop safety.

Position is onsite in Hazleton.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize and address urgent projects.
  • Perform repairs as directed.
  • Assess vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostics, identifying worn or damaged parts.
  • Ensure equipment availability by following preventive maintenance schedules, installing upgrades, and controlling corrosion.
  • Assist with fabrication of new equipment or builds as instructed.
  • Correct vehicle deficiencies by repairing, adjusting, overhauling, and replacing major assemblies and systems such as powertrain, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, and hydraulics, including machine shop operations.
  • Verify vehicle performance through test drives and system adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle standards through testing engines and safety systems.
  • Conduct field visits during emergencies or breakdowns.
  • Maintain shop equipment by troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and arranging repairs.
  • Monitor and manage inventory supplies.
  • Engage in educational opportunities and review technical publications to stay updated.
  • Take ownership of tasks and seek opportunities to add value.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Technical training in Mechanics preferred.

Experience:

  • Valid driver’s license with at least 5 years of clean driving record required.
  • Class B CDL is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Experience repairing heavy trucks (gas and diesel) required.
  • Welding experience required.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, chainsaws, trimmers, and leaf blowers essential.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Experience with sweepers, catch basin trucks, and tractors required.
  • Flexibility to work overtime.
  • Own tools required.

Pay rate: $20-25/hour
