Job summary

VIQU is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6-month contract in Warwick to support the design and development of heavy‑duty vehicle chassis systems and structural components. You will work hands‑on on chassis structures, sheet metal fabrications, suspension, steering and braking systems, providing production engineering support as design issues arise.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in heavy-duty vehicle environments.
Experience with heavy-gauge sheet metal components and welded assemblies.
Experience with chassis systems: suspension, brakes, steering, axles.
Proficient in 3D CAD and producing high-quality 2D manufacturing drawings.
Knowledge of GD&T and low-volume manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Design and develop heavy–duty chassis structures, sheet metal components and fabricated assemblies using 3D CAD and detailed manufacturing drawings.
Provide production engineering support by investigating manufacturing and assembly issues and implementing robust corrective actions.
Deliver integration activities across vehicle systems including suspension, steering, braking, axle and chassis–mounted components.
Create and release engineering changes through the established engineering change management process.
Support vehicle validation and testing activities, using engineering judgement to assess performance, manufacturability and product quality.
