Job summary

VIQU Limited is partnering with a Warwick-based engineering organisation to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer on a 6-month contract. The role focuses on heavy-duty chassis systems, fabrication, suspension, steering and braking, with hands-on design and close support to production.

You will produce 3D CAD models and detailed drawings, lead design changes, and help validate components through testing. The ideal candidate brings experience in heavy vehicles, sheet metal fabrication and GD&T, and

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Design Engineer in heavy‑duty vehicle or construction equipment environments.
• Skilled in designing heavy‑gauge sheet metal components, structural fabrications and welded assemblies.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and producing high‑quality 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T or GPS tolerancing in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement practical engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop heavy‑duty chassis structures, sheet metal components and fabricated assemblies using 3D CAD and detailed drawings.
• Provide production engineering support by investigating manufacturing and assembly issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Deliver integration across vehicle systems including suspension, steering, braking, axles and chassis components.
• Create and release engineering changes through the established change management process.
• Support vehicle validation and testing activities, assessing performance and manufacturability.
