Job description

Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete Ltd is a well-established family business which has been operating in Canterbury for over 60 years and has recently become part of the H.W. Richardson Group. The company is made up of four divisions which are concrete, aggregates, civil contracting and a workshop delivering mechanical and engineering services.

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic. You will be based in our Belfast workshop and part of a small team. At times you may be required to work on vehicles in the field (our other sites within North Canterbury). You will be independently diagnosing, and repairing vehicles and performing general and preventative maintenance. You will have a wide range of gear to work on including, concrete mixers and pumps, truck and trailer units, earth moving gear and other heavy vehicles.

To be successful you will need the following skills and attributes:

• Trade qualified in Heavy Automotive – Plant and Equipment or Road Transport
• Electrical and hydraulic knowledge preferred but not essential
• Strong diagnostic and problem solving skills
• Health and Safety focused
• Good time management
• Take pride in your work and gain satisfaction from “a job well done”
• Be able to work unsupervised
• Class 2, 4 and 5 Drivers Licence would be an advantage

In return we can offer:

• Wage rate depending on qualifications and experience is $35 to $40 per hour
• Time and half after 40 hours, plus tool allowance

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre employment medical and drug test.
