Job description

We are hiring for a Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The future we’re working towards is one where waste is a valuable resource. Our fleet plays an essential role in getting us there, by enabling us to collect, carry and dispose of a range of waste and recyclable material. Our Mechanics are crucial for keeping our trucks, trailers and other mobile equipment safe, maintained and operational. Because of this, as a Mechanic you will be a fundamental part of the business.

Reasons you’ll stay

  1. The Team: Being a Mechanic is often a solitary pursuit, but whilst you’ll need to work independently, what makes this job special is the team. Tight deadline? Unexpected workload spike? You’ll have a team by your side to help get our trucks back on the road.
  2. Increase your earnings: Our core working hours are 10am to 6pm, but there are loads of opportunities to earn overtime by starting earlier or raising your hand for a Saturday shift.
  3. The vehicles: You’ll love our new and well-equipped fleet of vehicles.
  4. Our focus on safety: We take care of our people; everybody’s safety is our utmost priority.
  5. We’re an essential service: Help the community and the environment move to a more sustainable future.
  6. You’ll never get bored! Our fully owned fleet of vehicles have a range of engineering equipment across our engines and trailers. No two days will be the same, as you’ll get stuck into a wide range of hydraulics, electrical to mechanical systems.

Who you are

  1. You’ll be a natural problem solver, with the ability to diagnose and find solutions to a range of mechanical problems.
  2. You’re a qualified Heavy Vehicle, Mobile Plant, Light Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic, or Auto-Electrician with experience in a range of facets of preventative maintenance and repair of vehicles including trucks and trailers.
  3. Strong understanding of safety.
  4. You’re a team player, willing to pitch in, support and help when required.
  5. You’ll be willing to attend to breakdowns after hours, on a rostered basis (overtime is paid for this).
