Job description

ROLE PURPOSE

The key responsibility of the position is to deliver outstanding Teaching, Learning and Assessment at our clients Training Centre in line with the requirements of the Heavy Vehicle Curriculum. The position will be responsible for providing their students with a safe learning environment from which outstanding teaching and practical skills training can be delivered. The objective is to provide delegates with an appropriate environment within which to be trained and assessed repairing heavy automotive vehicles. Whilst maintaining a consistently high standard of delivery, with support and guidance from colleagues and Quality Specialist.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Teach Heavy Vehicle Automotive Engineering & any associated Motor Vehicle Studies to include Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.
  2. Fully engage in general teaching, tutorials, student assessment, curriculum development, counselling, preparing materials and assignments, marking work and examinations, educational guidance, supervision of student visit programmes, personal and professional development.
  3. Participate in course development and delivery, including short- and long-term curriculum planning, preparation of assessment materials and strategies, working in conjunction with other members of the Course Team to draft schemes of work.
  4. Support the delivery, assessment and internal verification of both apprenticeship standards and Frameworks.
  5. Act as a personal tutor for students, including the completion of student progress files.
  6. Integrate and map functional skills within the curriculum.
  7. Collate student records and other administrative duties related to teaching and learning.
  8. Provide constructive feedback on English & Maths to students in the context of their vocational assignments.
  9. Assume leadership for a course team and manage the relevant course team meetings.
  10. Develop quality resources (including e-resources) which support the development of delivering Functional skills.
  11. Contribute to the development and implementation of flexible learning materials across the curriculum area.
  12. To assume leadership responsibilities, if required, managing the relevant Course Team meetings and contribute where appropriate.
  13. Other Corporate Responsibilities to Reflect the vision, mission, aims and values of our clients.
  14. Always strive for continuous improvement in your professional practice and delivery of outcomes.
  15. Commit to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  16. Participate in our clients Performance Development Review and engage in continuous professional development. Continually improve teaching, learning and assessment through proactive CPD and sharing best practice.
  17. Be compliant with Data Protection Act arrangements and confidentiality.
  18. Identify the financial, health and safety, equality, safeguarding, confidentiality or other risks associated with the post's sphere of responsibility and to define and take positive action to manage these risks.
  19. Carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Experience in Heavy vehicle incl. repair and diagnosis.
  2. Teaching Qualification (L3/4 AET/PTLLS/Cert-ed/PGCE)
  3. GCSE (C/4) or Functional Skills L2 Maths and English
  4. Computer Literate (Microsoft Office)
  5. Ability to create teaching resources (Scheme of work/Lesson plans)
  6. Enhanced DBS
  7. A minimum of Level 3 Motor Vehicle (IMI/C&G/BTEC)
  8. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.
  9. Assessor's Award - A1/CAVA or L3
