Job summary

Smart Search Technical Ltd in Peterborough is seeking an experienced Estimator for planned and reactive maintenance quotations. You will prepare estimates, liaise with clients, suppliers and subcontractors, and ensure quotes meet contract terms and regulations.

The role requires OFTEC and gas knowledge, plus experience in building services estimation. The position is office-based in Peterborough with a supportive team and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• OFTEC qualification or strong OFTEC knowledge.
• Gas qualification or strong gas systems knowledge.
• Experience estimating in commercial/industrial building services.
• Knowledge of oil-fired heating, gas, HVAC equipment.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates and quotations for maintenance, including labour, materials and subcontractor costs.
• Review site information, drawings and specifications with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to confirm scope and pricing.
• Ensure quotations meet client requirements, contract terms and relevant regulations with operations teams.
• Manage outstanding quotations and CAFM records; support handover of successful works to the project team.
• Identify additional works and support the wider sales and estimating process.

The Role

• Prepare estimates and quotations for planned and reactive maintenance, including labour, materials and subcontractor costs.
• Review site information, drawings and specifications, liaising with clients, suppliers and subcontractors to confirm scope and pricing.
• Work with the operations and project teams to ensure quotations meet client requirements, contract terms and relevant regulations.
• Manage outstanding quotations, maintain accurate CAFM records and support the handover of successful works to the project team.
• Identify additional works and support the wider sales and estimating process.

About You

• OFTEC qualification or strong working knowledge of OFTEC-regulated systems – essential.
• Gas qualification or strong working knowledge of gas systems – essential.
• Previous estimating experience within commercial or industrial building services/maintenance.
• Strong technical knowledge of oil-fired heating, gas, air conditioning/refrigeration and associated M&E equipment.
• Experience with SFG20 and CAFM systems is desirable.
• Strong numerical, organisational and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Confident dealing with clients, subcontractors and suppliers while managing multiple quotations and deadlines.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent is desirable.
