Thermal Energy International (TEI) is looking to appoint a Heat Recovery Engineer to design, analyse, and implement systems that capture and reuse waste heat from industrial, institutional, or energy production processes. The ideal candidate will work on improving energy efficiency, reducing operational costs, and contributing to the environmental sustainability of installed systems.

These projects are delivered on a turnkey basis to multinational industrial clients looking to reduce carbon emissions through recovering the heat lost in their operations. This is an exciting business driven by increasing fuel costs and the push towards Net Zero.

TEI runs projects across Europe ranging from £500k to £5 million in size, with the typical scope involving the analysis of industrial heating systems and the detailed engineering to implement effective heat recovery systems using existing and new technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Design and develop heat recovery systems such as economisers, heat exchangers, Heat Pumps, and combined heat and power (CHP) systems.
  • Conduct thermal and energy balance calculations to identify heat recovery opportunities.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and equipment for heat recovery applications.
  • Perform energy audits and site assessments to assess current energy usage and waste heat streams.
  • Collaborate with process engineers, mechanical designers, and contractors to integrate systems into existing systems.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Manage project lifecycle from conceptual design through commissioning and performance validation
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and energy codes
  • Monitor and report on system performance and recommend optimisations or upgrades.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies in heat recovery and energy efficiency.
  • Conduct thermal and energy balance calculations to identify heat recovery opportunities.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Support proposal development for new projects

WORKING HOURS

The European Engineering team is based in Bristol, whilst the role can be home-based, the candidate should be prepared to travel to the office on a weekly basis.

Site work required for commissioning will require regular travel throughout Europe where physical presence is required to troubleshoot.
